A pod is a bed that surrounds you in light

A red light therapy pod, sometimes called a red light chamber, is a full body red light therapy bed in its enclosed configuration. The canopy closes around you, and light reaches the body from every angle at once. A flat panel lights one side of the body at a time; an enclosed bed surrounds the entire body and delivers a complete photobiomodulation session in one 10 to 16 minute lie-down.

The enclosed geometry is the point. The S11 Pro Med uses multi-angle LED lenses to deliver equal irradiance to the top and bottom of the body, clear-span acrylic so no frame blocks the light, and an internal reflective coating that maximizes the light actually delivered to the skin. The result is uniform, verified output across the whole body rather than a hot zone in the middle of a panel.

11 wavelengths in one bed

Most light beds run a handful of red and near-infrared wavelengths. The S11 Pro Med spans ultraviolet B, blue, green, red and near-infrared: 11 wavelengths blended into clinically formulated protocols rather than marketed one nanometer at a time. The 293nm UVB channel, which drives the Vitamin D3 protocol, is exclusive to the S11 Pro Med.

Two special things the S11 Pro Med does

Standard red light therapy does not produce vitamin D. Vitamin D synthesis requires ultraviolet B light, and red and near-infrared wavelengths do not reach that part of the spectrum. The S11 Pro Med is the first light bed to close that gap: a dedicated 293nm UVB channel designed to support the body's natural vitamin D synthesis.

A natural question: is this tanning? The Vitamin D3 protocol is a 30-second, bottom-deck-only UVB pre-roll ahead of a red light session: a precisely dosed exposure designed to support vitamin D synthesis, not to darken skin.

The Vitamin D3 protocol uses 293 nm UVB, so clients should be screened first. It is not appropriate for anyone with a history of skin cancer, a photosensitive disorder, sunburn or an active skin condition, or anyone taking photosensitizing medication. Pregnant clients need medical clearance. Protective eyewear is required. 

The S11 Pro Med also has independent control of the top and bottom decks within the same session. A practitioner can run one protocol on the upper body and a different one on the lower body, Skin Rejuvenation above and Pain Relief below, in a single 10 to 16 minute session. For a practice, that means one session can serve two goals without doubling chair time.

36 mW/cm², lab tested irradiance

Irradiance claims in this industry are frequently unverified, or measured at flattering distances that no user ever experiences. Spectra takes the opposite approach: every unit is measured with a lab-certified spectroradiometer before it ships, backed by third-party light lab testing and certification.

The number itself is stated with its measurement distance: 36 mW/cm² at 0 inches. Stating the distance matters. A bed measured at the surface and a panel measured at 6 inches are not comparable numbers, and most competitors omit the distance entirely.

Pod or Tunnel

The S11 Pro Med ships in two configurations. The Pod is the enclosed clamshell: the canopy closes and the session runs in a fully surrounded light environment, the choice most wellness centers make for the premium client experience. The Tunnel is open at both ends, which suits rooms with tighter clearance, clients who prefer an open feel, and layouts where staff need sight lines during a session. Either way, plan for a 28 inch minimum door clearance and review the room electrical requirements before delivery.
